Safety Alert: Costco Issues Recall for Popular Sparkling Wine Due to Shattering Risk

Costco has issued a safety notice for its Kirkland Signature Prosecco Valdobbiadene (item #1879870), a popular sparkling wine, due to a risk of the bottles shattering while unopened. The alert affects all bottles sold between April 25 and August 26.

Customers are advised not to open any unopened bottles they may have. Instead, they should wrap the bottle in paper towels, place it in a plastic bag, and dispose of it in the garbage to prevent the risk of injury from shattered glass.

Costco has requested that customers do not return the product. Instead, the wholesaler is sending letters to those who purchased the wine, informing them that they will receive a full refund upon returning the letter to their nearest Costco location.
