Exclusive Auction: Rare Wines from the Cellar of Alexandre de Lur Saluces, Featuring Yquem, Romanée-Conti, and Pétrus

Chris Lehoux, November 7, 2025

On November 13, an auction will feature rare wines from the cellar of the late Count Alexandre de Lur Saluces, known for managing Château d’Yquem. The auction, conducted by Daguerre, will take place both online and in-person at Hôtel Drouot in Paris, starting at 8:00 a.m. EST.

The highlight of this sale is an impressive array of approximately 2,500 bottles, including vintages of Château d’Yquem ranging from 1928 to 2019. This extensive collection comes from the cellars of the Sauternes estate where de Lur Saluces served his family from 1968 until 2004. His family’s winemaking lineage in Sauternes dates back to the 15th century. Alongside Yquem, the auction will offer other esteemed wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy, and more.

De Lur Saluces had a passion for Burgundy wines, fostered through his friendship with Aubert de Villaine of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. The auction will include several notable wines from this prestigious domaine, including Richebourg and La Tâche. Other featured lots comprise rare bottles from Bordeaux houses such as Château Lafite Rothschild and Château Pétrus, showcasing the depth of de Lur Saluces’s collection.

While there are high-value lots, such as a Romanée-Conti 1990 estimated at over $17,000, there are also options for more casual collectors. For example, a half-bottle of Yquem from the 1938 vintage starts at approximately $350.

Wine lovers wishing to participate in the auction can bid in person at Hôtel Drouot or online. For more details regarding registration, visit the auction website.
