$21.5 Million Raised at Hospices de Beaune 2025 Auction for Children and Health Charities

Chris Lehoux, November 23, 2025

This year, the renowned Hospices de Beaune auction achieved remarkable success, raising $21.5 million for health charities. The event, held on November 16, was the 165th of its kind and marked a notable increase over last year’s total of $15.2 million, which was impacted by a challenging 2024 vintage. This latest figure stands as the third-highest in the auction’s history, following a record $32 million in 2022 and $27.4 million in 2023. The auction has been overseen by Sotheby’s for five years now.

One of the highlights of the event was the Presidents’ Barrel, this year featuring a barrel of premier cru Pommard Les Rugiens. Celebrities, including Cédric Klapisch and Martin Solveig, supported the auctioneer, Aurélie Vandevoorde, in encouraging donations. The intense bidding culminated in a record price of approximately $460,000 for this barrel, with proceeds benefiting the EHCO association and the Robert-Debré Children’s Brain Institute in Paris.

Additionally, two barrels of Bâtard-Montrachet, Cuvée Dames de Flandres, were sold for $460,000 each, breaking the previous year’s record of $372,000 per barrel. Overall, 552 barrels were offered at the auction, with an average price of just over $39,000 per barrel, a significant increase from last year’s average of roughly $33,000.

A notable introduction this year was the Clos de Vougeot, Cuvée François Faiveley, the 52nd cuvée of the Hospices, made from a four-acre plot donated by Domaine Faiveley for their bicentennial. The wine fetched about $195,000 and showcased the emotional impact of the event on the Faiveley family, especially the sixth-generation François Faiveley.

This year’s auction not only had a tremendous financial outcome but also indicated strong enthusiasm for the 2025 vintage, marking a successful chapter in the Hospices de Beaune’s legacy.
