Connecticut Mom Charged with Poisoning Man’s Wine Receives Bond Approval

The woman accused of poisoning the father of her child by pouring antifreeze into his wine was granted bond during a court hearing in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Kristen Hogan, 33, was arrested after confessing to pouring ethylene glycol into a bottle of wine, intending to make the victim ill as retribution for what she described as his abusive behavior.

After her arrest, police investigated her phone, which revealed numerous searches related to the effects of poisons and specifically the lethal dosage of monoethylene glycol. A lab report confirmed the presence of ethylene glycol in the wine consumed by the 34-year-old victim. Hogan allegedly admitted to another instance where she had added a small amount of antifreeze to his iced tea.

The victim believes her actions were motivated by a desire to secure sole ownership of their home and full custody of their shared child, with the pair entangled in a contentious custody battle. Hogan’s attorney argued that she is a loving mother who is eager to resolve the case.

Five orders of protection were issued during the court session, and Hogan is scheduled to return to court on December 2.
