Join Us for the 2025 Old Vine Conference: October 31 – November 4 in California Wine Country! Chris Lehoux, October 12, 2025 For the seventh time, winegrowers, researchers, educators, importers, sommeliers, writers, and wine enthusiasts will converge in California Wine Country to celebrate and explore the world of old vines and the exceptional wines they produce. This year’s Old Vine Conference (OVC) is particularly special as it marks its inaugural occurrence in California. The OVC is organized by a non-profit organization led by Sarah Abbott, MW, Leo Austin, and Alun Griffiths, MW, dedicated to establishing a distinct category for old vine wines within the wine industry. The conference serves as a platform to recognize, preserve, and support old vineyards globally. Spanning four days from October 31 to November 4, the event will begin with a gala tasting and dinner in Napa on October 31, featuring a keynote address by renowned wine expert Jancis Robinson, followed by a discussion with Paul Draper. On November 1, the conference will shift to Santa Rosa for a full day of presentations, talks, and panels, including a session focused on the practicality of marketing old vine wines. Attendees will receive updates on the Old Vine Registry during this discussion. The following day, participants can join field explorations hosted by Sonoma County Winegrowers, visiting some of the region’s oldest vineyards. November 3 will involve sessions in Lodi, where panelists will debate the significance and value of "heritage" related to old vines. The conference will conclude with another day of vineyard visits in Lodi. This year’s gathering promises to attract key figures in the wine industry, including Rosa Kruger, Laura Catena, and many others, providing an excellent opportunity for learning and networking. Day passes are available for $150 to $300, while multi-day passes range from $995 to $2095.
