SUTTONS BAY, MI – Black Star Farms is set to host its inaugural Wine Run 5K at its stunning vineyard and equestrian estate on the Leelanau Peninsula this summer. The event, scheduled for June 23, aims to attract runners who enjoy races in beautiful locations, as well as individuals who simply wish to explore the trails, and have a good time with their loved ones.

Here’s the planned setup:

Regardless of how attendees choose to participate, the vineyard encourages guests to “run first, wine later”, and make full use of the amenities available at Black Star Farms.

“Whether you’re a seasoned marathoner or prefer a leisurely stroll, this event caters to all speeds and styles,” staff said. “With a chip-timed 5k run/walk, along with a 0k option for those who prefer to head straight for the wine, there’s no shortage of ways to participate.”

The course begins and ends at the tasting room. Check-in begins at 8 a.m. on Sunday, June 23, and the race will begin at 9 a.m.

You can register online on the Black Star Farms website here.

Included in the registration will be a race T-shirt, a wine glass, a complimentary pour of wine, and a finisher medal that doubles as a wine coaster.

For those feeling hungry after the race, Black Star Farms’ Bistro Polaris will be serving hearty breakfast sandwiches. And because race day falls on a Sunday Funday, runners and walkers can score Mimosas for $5 and Bloody Marys for $9.

“By participating in this event, you will not only treat yourself to a fun-filled day of fitness and wine but also show your support for our local community. A portion of the registration fees will be donated to our charity partner, TART Trails, a nonprofit organization.”

Black Star Farms has beautiful trails at its Suttons Bay location. They cut through forests, vineyards and open fields and are available to guests year-round.

The main estate is in Suttons Bay, but Black Star also has a tasting room on nearby Old Mission Peninsula. If you’re headed to either location this spring, here are some weekly specials and events to take note of:
