Argea Joins Stronger Together: A Commitment to Sustainability in the Italian Wine Industry

March 17, 2026 (Milan, Italy) — Argea has made a significant move by joining the Stronger Together Italia programme, becoming the first private wine company in Italy to support this initiative. The programme is developed by the non-profit organisation Stronger Together in collaboration with EQUALITAS, and is endorsed by key Scandinavian monopolies: Systembolaget (Sweden), Vinmonopolet (Norway), and Alko (Finland).

This collaboration aligns with Argea’s broader commitment to bolstering the social dimensions of sustainability throughout its production chain. Stronger Together aims to combat labour exploitation by offering training, operational tools, and collaborative initiatives focused on responsible recruitment and fair working environments.

Currently, Stronger Together operates in several countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Mexico, and South Africa. The organisation engages with businesses to enhance worker protection in various sectors, such as agriculture, consumer goods, and logistics.

The wine sector programme specifically assists wineries, distributors, and agricultural producers in recognizing and mitigating the risks of labour exploitation. Argea’s involvement will strengthen this effort, allowing the group to contribute to more transparent labour practices through workshops and supplier management tools.

Since 2022, Stronger Together has collaborated with EQUALITAS and several Italian regional consortia to promote best practices. It has successfully delivered over 33 workshops, training more than 490 professionals from over 390 companies in the Italian wine industry.

Among the resources provided are:

  • A six-step checklist for enhancing human rights diligence
  • Policy templates and operational resources
  • Multilingual informational posters for workers

Argea’s commitment extends to its Wine Supply Chain Sustainability Pact, where it collaborates with major suppliers to improve safety, traceability, human rights, and environmental sustainability. By 2025, this pact involved 28 partner wineries, accounting for over 60% of the wine sourced by the group.

In addition, Argea has established a structured ESG supplier qualification and monitoring system, incorporating ethical audits and inspections to ensure worker safety and rights. In 2025, 88% of its wine suppliers successfully completed this qualification process.

Michael Isnardi, Argea’s Group QHSE & Sustainability Director, emphasized the importance of joining Stronger Together as a step towards enhanced social sustainability. He stated that their leadership in this initiative would set high standards in the industry and foster a culture of transparency and accountability.

Giosuè De Salvo, Programme Manager for Stronger Together Italia, highlighted the partnership’s potential to create safer, more inclusive working environments within the Italian wine industry.
