Experience the Vibrant Mountain View 54th Art & Wine Festival on Castro Street This Weekend!

Nearly a mile of Castro Street in downtown Mountain View will be transformed into a bustling fairground as it closes to traffic for the 54th annual Art & Wine Festival. This popular street fair, set to run from September 12 to 13, promises a vibrant atmosphere with over 400 artisan booths, live music across two stages, and a wine garden featuring tastings from eight heritage wineries. The festival will be open Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., stretching from El Camino Real to Evelyn Avenue.

Organized by the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce, the festival offers wine tasting at a price of $55 alongside craft beer, canned cocktails, and other beverages. It began in 1971 and has grown in scale, attracting an expected 150,000 attendees this year. The event also includes a kids’ zone with various activities, a community mural for visitors to contribute to, an Xfinity Pigskin Party Lounge for sports fans, and an Italian Street Painting Block Party.

The festival’s location is a testament to Mountain View’s commitment to pedestrian-friendly environments, as the city has converted the 100 to 300 blocks of Castro into a car-free pedestrian mall. This change was initially made during the pandemic to support outdoor dining. Current city plans aim to enhance walkability further with a $1.7 million project for expanded crosswalks.

Festival-goers can easily access the event via Caltrain, VTA Light Rail, and local bus services that stop at the Mountain View Transit Center, located at the festival’s main entrance. For those driving, there is $20 off-street parking available at the 444 Castro Street garage, managed by local volunteers. Festival organizers are also prioritizing environmental sustainability with established composting and recycling stations throughout the event.

Booths at the festival will be filled with artists showcasing their works, and while admission to the grounds is free, food and drink will be available for purchase.
