30th Annual Wine & Herb Event Hosted by Cayuga Lake Wine Trail: An Around the Lakes Special Report Chris Lehoux, April 14, 2024 ROMULUS — With the arrival of spring and the beautiful landscape of the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail coming into bloom, wine connoisseurs and foodie aficionados have the chance to attend the Wine & Herb Event, now in its 30th year. The event is scheduled for April 27-28 and May 4-5, running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, and is expected to be a truly memorable blend of tastes, scents, and horticultural joy. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Drink. Eat. Garden. Repeat.” Guests can look forward to a carefully curated selection of herb-infused food items that have been expertly paired with a selection of wines, and the recipes for these dishes will be shared for the attendees to try at home. The main focus of the event is to help guests get a kick start on their herb gardens, providing them the opportunity to pick up potted herbs and vegetables displayed at each of the 10 participating wineries. “The Wine & Herb event has become a cherished tradition for both locals and visitors, offering a unique blend of culinary exploration and gardening inspiration against the backdrop of our stunning wine trail,” said Katherine Chase, executive director of the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail. Participants can choose their starting winery where they will be given a commemorative wine glass and their first potted herb or vegetable plant. After that, they’re welcome to tour the trail at their own pace, collecting plants and enjoying the sensory experiences along the way. This year, we’re thrilled to unveil a variety of herb and vegetable plants. The list includes basil, broccoli, cauliflower, cilantro, Cherokee purple tomato, dill, oregano, parsley, rosemary, and sweet banana pepper,” commented Chase. “These fragrant additions aim to enhance the cooking experience and motivate gardeners of any capability.” You can get your tickets now. A single ticket costs $65, while couples can get theirs at $95 (excluding tax and service fee). Each ticket grants a wine and food pair at each winery, three supplementary wine tastings per winery, one herbal or vegetable plant per winery for every ticket, a recipe collectible, and a souvenir wine glass. Discounted tickets for designated drivers come at $45, laden with all other benefits except for the wine, including a DD travel mug. For further details or to buy tickets, please click here.
