Settlement Reached in Napa County Supervisor Belia Ramos’ Restraining Order Case Against Wine Executive Chris Lehoux, August 10, 2024 The temporary restraining order previously secured by Napa County Supervisor Belia Ramos against a local winery executive in June, has now been dismissed following a resolution between the involved parties. Ramos had initially secured the restraining order against Debra Dommen, vice president for government and industry affairs at Treasury Wine Estates, on June 28. Napa County Judge Joseph J. Solga rescinded the order on a recent Thursday after it was revealed that both parties had reached a mutual agreement. In her request for the order, Ramos claimed in a detailed 17-page petition that Dommen was responsible for disseminating a sensitive document related to a child welfare investigation concerning Ramos and her eldest daughter. Ramos contended that this action was motivated by a desire to influence public opinion against her before the upcoming March county supervisors election, an election she ultimately won. The agreement prohibits Dommen from distributing or discussing the letter, along with other conditions. She was also obliged to give an added sworn statement on Thursday. Kevin Block, representing Dommen, expressed on Friday that his client is thankful the case has concluded. “We all lose when elected officials exploit the courts to penalize their political adversaries,” Block commented. Stephen Montagna, representing Ramos, mentioned that Dommen’s statement would aid “in safeguarding the family’s privacy and holding accountable those who breached it.” Montagna emphasized that the primary goal of the legal proceedings was to protect the privacy of Ms. Ramos and her children, ensuring that the distribution of confidential information by unauthorized parties was prevented under law. He expressed disdain towards those who infringed upon this privacy, describing their behavior as harmful and malevolent, particularly towards Supervisor Ramos and her children. “It is utterly reprehensible that certain individuals, self-proclaimed leaders within the Napa community, actively participated in these harmful actions by dispersing private matters that involved minor children,” said Montagna in his statement to The Press Democrat.
