Jean-Charles Boisset and Gina Gallo-Boisset Acquire Napa’s Iconic Flora Springs Winery Chris Lehoux, December 7, 2024 Jean-Charles Boisset and Gina Gallo-Boisset, prominent figures in the wine industry, have acquired Flora Springs Winery in Napa Valley from the founding Komes and Garvey families. This marks the couple’s inaugural collaboration in winemaking. The acquisition includes the St. Helena winery, existing inventory, and the uniquely designed tasting room located on Highway 29. Financial specifics of the transaction have not been disclosed. Gina expressed, “Flora Springs embodies the family spirit we adore and are committed to continue,” while Jean-Charles emphasized their goal to "elevate their exceptional wines to a new dimension." A Legacy of Cabernet Flora Springs, established in 1978, is recognized for its Cabernet Sauvignon and notable blends like Trilogy and Soliloquy. In 2019, the winery reduced its annual production to 8,500 cases, focusing primarily on direct-to-consumer sales. Following the acquisition, Nat Komes, a third-generation family member, will step down from his role as general manager to concentrate on Jon Nathaniel Cellars, the family’s boutique winery in Rutherford. He expressed excitement about the new direction of his family’s Napa Valley winemaking legacy. New Beginnings Enrico Bertoz will remain as the winemaker, collaborating closely with Gina, who has extensive winemaking experience at E&J Gallo. The Komes have retained 30 acres of estate vineyards for their use. Jean-Charles shared that they have secured contracts with the Komes family and several key growers, stating their aim to continue the legacy of the estate while incorporating exceptional vineyards that both he and Gina will source. Jean-Charles leads the Boisset Collection, which includes wineries in France and California, such as DeLoach, Buena Vista, and Bouchard Aîné & Fils. Together, Boisset and Gallo-Boisset also own the Ink House Inn in St. Helena. Stay updated on significant developments in the wine industry with Wine Spectator’s Breaking News Alerts.
