Celebrating Women in Wine: Tish Wiggins and Black History Always 2025

Tish Wiggins, also known as Tish Around Town, is redefining the narrative of diversity and empowerment in Napa Valley’s wine scene. Her journey from Cleveland through cities like Dallas and Atlanta to Napa Valley showcases her commitment to inclusion and celebration of women in wine. With a background managing multi-million-dollar projects for major financial institutions, Tish transitioned into the wine industry, where she now curates unique experiences and educational tours.

Her event series, the Celebration of Women in Wine, will expand into a full-scale event running from March 5-8, 2025, honoring the contributions of women in the wine industry. These events not only celebrate accomplishments but also create deeper connections between wine lovers and the stories behind the wines.

In a recent interview, Tish reflected on her personal journey with wine, recalling her first experiences and how she transformed a casual interest into a passion. She emphasizes the critical role of diversity in the wine sector, acknowledging some progress but recognizing the need for continued efforts around diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB).

Tish serves as the Director of Apprenticeship Programs for The Veraison Project, striving to create more opportunities for underrepresented talent in the industry. She advocates for gatekeepers in the wine community to actively seek partnerships with BIPOC individuals and champion their contributions.

The past five years have shown some improvement regarding diversity within the wine industry, with increased engagement of BIPOC professionals and visibility in various roles. Tish is passionate about making wine more approachable for younger audiences through engaging education and events.

Looking forward, Tish plans to further expand her event series to highlight pioneering women in the wine industry and launch customized wine tours and concierge services in early 2025. Outside of her work, Tish enjoys travel, live music, and cherishing time with loved ones.
