Trillium Wine Bar in Guerneville Expands Its Offerings: What to Expect!

Trillium Winebar & Taproom, located at 16222 Main St. in Guerneville, has gained attention for its charming ambiance and impressive menu— an ideal mix of a seafood shack and a stylish eatery adorned with marble and local art. Owned by Genevieve Payne, a retired librarian turned wine connoisseur, and Greg Barnes, an accomplished chef with an impressive culinary background, Trillium opened in September 2023.

The concept emerged during casual conversations between the two, who had previously worked together. When Payne suggested they start a new venture after a prior restaurant closed, Barnes acknowledged the ambitious nature of the plan. However, he saw potential in a nearly turnkey space previously known as Seaside Metal, which had a raw bar and an appealing layout.

Since opening, the menu has expanded from just a few small plates to include a variety of seafood offerings, salads, and heartfelt dishes like a hot crab dip with cheese. Adapting to the limitations of a small kitchen, Chef Barnes utilized a convection oven, enabling the creation of inventive dishes like a fantastic crab roll and warm focaccia sandwiches filled with pastrami and provolone.

Seafood takes center stage at Trillium, highlighted by a richly crafted chowder and baked oysters that bring a twist to the classic fare. Additionally, patrons can craft their own tinned fish platter featuring a selection of smoked seafood, and desserts crafted with the same care, including a delicious coconut cake.

The wine list complements the menu beautifully, showcasing unique selections from countries like Slovenia and Italy. For wine enthusiasts, the beverage options are diverse, including craft beers, low-and-no alcohol options, and even pure grape juices.
