Last Taste of Flavor: Foodies Relish the Final Moments of the Charleston Wine and Food Festival

Chris Lehoux, March 10, 2025

The Charleston Food and Wine Festival recently concluded after five days filled with culinary delights, highlighting the talents of local chefs and culinary figures from across the country. The festival took place in downtown Charleston, featuring various venues including the popular Culinary Village at Johnson Hagood Stadium.

This year’s event offered over 90 unique experiences, ensuring there was something for everyone. Attendees enjoyed not only food and wine but also an array of vendor tables showcasing handmade goods, chef demonstrations, live music, and a silent disco, enriching the overall experience.

One returning attendee, Patti Roskill from Mount Pleasant, expressed her delight at the festival’s family-friendly atmosphere, noting that it provided an excellent opportunity to discover new restaurants and wineries. She appreciated this year’s improved crowd control measures, contributing to a more intimate setting that allowed for greater enjoyment.

Executive Director Alyssa Mautesmith highlighted the festival’s economic impact on the local area, drawing visitors who contribute to local restaurants and hotels. Moreover, the event supports educational initiatives, with local high school students engaging in a culinary training program alongside professional chefs.

Among the various exhibitors was the New York-based brand Mixiboy, launching their organic baking mixes. Founder Austin Sommerer mentioned the positive reception they received, noting their commitment to returning for future festivals as they see Charleston as a vibrant market for their products.

Looking ahead, the festival’s 20th anniversary is already in the planning stages, promising diverse offerings catering to all tastes. The Charleston Food and Wine Festival continues to be a cherished event that showcases the city’s culinary excellence while bolstering its economy.
