Celebrating Community: Park Ridge ‘Wine Walk’ Unites Local Businesses and Residents

Chris Lehoux, May 7, 2025

Wine samplings, small bites, and community camaraderie marked the annual "Wine Walk" on April 27, 2025, in Uptown Park Ridge, organized by the Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce. This event featured 21 local businesses, allowing over 250 attendees to explore shops while enjoying a variety of wines. Priced at $45 per ticket, participants received a passport checklist to guide them through the businesses, along with goodie bags, souvenirs, and raffle entries.

Jackie Mathews, the Chamber’s executive director, highlighted the event’s goal to encourage support for local businesses and bring the community together. The Wine Walk has been an annual tradition since around 2014, with the 2025 edition being the sole event for the year, as the Chamber aims to foster exploration of Park Ridge’s vibrant local scene.

The event began at Harp and Fiddle, a rustic-contemporary tavern that opened in 2016. Participating establishments like Don Juan’s Cantina and sponsors set up pop-up tents at various locations, offering guests a chance to try complimentary bites and select wines. "Our businesses do a fantastic job rolling out the red carpet for all who are our guests," remarked Mathews, who noted the involvement of both new and existing businesses.

First-time attendees such as Kimberly Walters and her daughter, Shea, enjoyed the warm afternoon as they explored local retailers while sipping rosé. "I’ve known of this event, but I can’t believe this is my first time," Kimberly expressed, excited to both enjoy family time and support Park Ridge’s local offerings.

Natalie Amabile, owner of 2 Sisters Boutique A+L, appreciated the blend of returning customers and new faces. "It’s wonderful to see people coming in and discovering what we have to offer," she noted, attributing the positive turnout to favorable weather and a festive atmosphere.

Among the attendees was Devin Kenny, celebrating her birthday with friends. “It’s great meeting new people and checking out new businesses," she said, appreciating how events like the Wine Walk help integrate residents into the community.

The Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce is now looking forward to its upcoming “Market After Dark” event, which will take place over the summer, featuring food trucks, music, and local vendors.
