Wine and Culinary Stars Unite to Support the Brave Journey of a Girl Named Rayas

In a heartfelt display of solidarity, the wine and food community has come together to support an inspiring young girl named Rayas. Her story began with severe headaches and vomiting, which led to an urgent trip to the ER. In the ensuing months, what initially seemed like a routine issue spiraled into a harrowing ordeal involving two brain surgeries, a neurological collapse, full-brain radiation treatment, and intensive chemotherapy.

Rayas was diagnosed with an atypical case of diffuse leptomeningeal ATRT—a rare and aggressive pediatric brain cancer affecting fewer than 70 children each year with no standard treatment protocols. Before her diagnosis, she was a bright, horse-loving teenager, full of life and humor. Despite facing overwhelming challenges, her spirit remains strong.

Her mother, Keiko Niccolini, a single parent, has dedicated herself to caring for Rayas, working tirelessly to manage her medical needs while grappling with complex insurance issues and insufficient financial resources. The mounting bills are a constant source of worry.

Recognizing that Keiko shouldn’t have to navigate such a difficult situation alone, a coalition of chefs, sommeliers, and wine professionals initiated the Auction for Rayas. This silent auction aims to raise funds to assist Keiko and Rayas on this daunting journey.

The auction has garnered tremendous support within the community, featuring over 60 unique items, including offerings from Michelin-starred chefs and renowned wineries.
