Wine Press: The Top 12 Exquisite Wines Under $12 for 2025

Chris Lehoux, December 9, 2025

In November 2012, I began my journey writing about wine with the aim of dispelling the misconception that quality wine is an exclusive luxury for the wealthy. Thirteen years later, that mission continues as I strive to showcase affordable wines that don’t compromise on taste.

While it’s true that fantastic high-end wines exist, my focus remains on finding budget-friendly options that are both delightful and readily available. Thus, for many years, I compiled lists of the top 10 wines under $10, though the task has become increasingly challenging due to rising inflation and increased prices.

To adapt to this trend, I’ve expanded this year’s selection to 12 wines priced under $12. I’ve personally tasted each of these wines and retasted several for this list. All selections are chosen for their accessibility, ensuring you won’t struggle to find them in stores. This year’s list features wines from six countries: the United States, France, Italy, Spain, New Zealand, and Argentina, encompassing eight red wines, three whites, and one sparkling wine. For the second consecutive year, a California red wine claims the top spot.
