Glenora Wine Cellars Acquired by Finger Lakes Wine Festival Organizers

Chris Lehoux, December 16, 2025

Glenora Wine Cellars, a historic winery in New York’s Finger Lakes region, has been sold to brothers Brian and Kevin Lilly, who lead FLX Family Winery, LLC. This sale marks a significant transition for the winery, recognized as a pioneer among small wineries where it helped shape the local wine culture. Although the purchase price has not been disclosed, Glenora was listed at $10.8 million in 2022.

The Lilly brothers, who also operate a broadcasting business and multiple local ventures, expressed their admiration for Glenora’s enduring legacy and its prime location overlooking Seneca Lake. Their focus will revolve around maintaining stability and creativity rather than aggressive growth. They have retained the existing staff, suggesting that day-to-day operations will remain unchanged.

Glenora Wine Cellars was founded in 1977 by Gene Pierce, Eastman Beers, Edward Dalrymple, and businessman Howard Kimball, during a time when large wineries in the area were closing or moving operations west. Their initiative aligned with the New York Farm Winery Act, which was designed to promote local wineries by allowing direct sales to the public.

Over the decades, Glenora has significantly expanded its production and hospitality offerings, including the establishment of a restaurant and inn that have attracted many visitors to the region. Today, it produces approximately 40,000 cases of wine annually from its own 60 acres of vineyards and additional fruit sourced from local growers.

As the previous owners recognized the necessity for a new direction, they sought buyers who had demonstrated success in other businesses to ensure Glenora’s continued growth. Brian Lilly emphasized their commitment to honoring Glenora’s legacy and fostering its relationship with loyal customers as they embark on this new chapter.
