In a recent celebration of the Gérard Basset Foundation, Romané Basset, son of the legendary sommelier Gérard Basset, discussed his father’s impactful legacy in wine education. The foundation, named after Gérard, seeks to empower aspiring professionals in the wine industry through scholarships and grants, continuing Gérard’s commitment to mentoring others. The foundation’s initiatives have flourished globally, with almost 100 scholars from 35 different countries benefiting from their programs. Her experience and scholarship provided her with a platform to represent Ukraine’s burgeoning wine industry, which holds untapped potential.

Furthermore, Michael Juergens, co-founder of the Bhutan Wine Company, shared his ambitious vision for developing a wine industry in Bhutan. The foundation facilitated their efforts by providing grants to establish educational programs that will uplift the local population and create a sustainable wine culture.
