Exciting New Collaboration: Odyssey Wine Academy and Commonwealth Wine School Launch Wine Education Initiative in Sonoma County

Odyssey Wine Academy, located in Healdsburg, California, has announced its merger with Commonwealth Wine School, a prominent educator in wine, spirits, and beverage knowledge. This collaboration aims to broaden educational opportunities for students throughout Sonoma County and beyond.

Since its inception in 2022, Odyssey has gained recognition for its WSET programs and wine-tasting classes. The merger allows Odyssey to leverage Commonwealth’s robust online resources and expert educational support, creating a pathway for students to pursue the WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines.

Julie Rothberg, the founder of Odyssey, expressed that their approach to wine education welcomes everyone, emphasizing the importance of strong in-person experiences. Through this merger, students will gain access to a wealth of online tools and resources, enhancing their classroom learning.

The merger also means that Commonwealth Wine School, which already has a notable presence on the West Coast, will now include Healdsburg as a new location. Alongside its programs in New England, Commonwealth aims to create engaging and thorough wine education experiences accessible to a diverse student population.

The benefits of this partnership extend beyond just classroom instruction. Commonwealth is set to offer a variety of digital study tools, recorded lectures, quizzes, and resources that will aid students in WSET exam preparations. This includes additional study resources for students enrolled in advanced programs.

As part of this new collaboration, Odyssey Wine Academy will move its classes to Maison Wine Bar in downtown Healdsburg, starting in the fall 2026 term. Enrollment for WSET wine and spirits qualifications is now open, with courses slated to begin in September 2026.
