On July 8, 2025, in Stockholm, Sweden, Star Wine List announced its upcoming 2025/2026 Star Wine List of the Year awards tour, set to traverse Europe, Asia, the UAE, and North America. This prestigious competition aims to honor the finest wine lists globally and recognize the skilled sommeliers behind them.

The new season, beginning this September, will incorporate fresh updates to the award categories to better reflect the evolving global wine landscape. One notable new category is the Best Italian Wine List, responding to the surging popularity and demand for quality Italian selections.

"We want to modify our categories a bit," stated Krister Bengtsson, the Founder and Publisher of Star Wine List. "The Best Italian Wine List category is significant—Italian wines are exceptional, and, given the demand, we are excited to highlight them this year."

The tour will launch on September 15, 2025, in Vilnius, Lithuania, marking the first time the Netherlands’ wine lists will be acknowledged during a live event on September 29, alongside Belgium’s.

Bengtsson expressed enthusiasm about adding the Netherlands to their itinerary due to the impressive entries from the region in prior competitions. Following a successful previous season that included events in Tokyo, Barcelona, and Miami, the company anticipates similar excitement for this year’s events, culminating in an international final.

2025/2026 Tour Schedule:

• September 15, 2025: Baltic States
• September 29, 2025: Belgium and the Netherlands
• October 12, 2025: Norway
• November 10, 2025: Ireland
• November 24, 2025: Denmark
• December 8, 2025: United Arab Emirates
• Spring 2026: UK, Asia, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Florida, France, Japan, New York, Spain, and Sweden.
