West Hartford Wine Bar to Host Unique Festival Before Closing its Doors

Chris Lehoux, July 27, 2025

A wine bar in West Hartford, known as Crush, is set to close its doors after less than a year of operation. Opened in October 2024, Crush featured a diverse menu of seasonal small plates, an extensive wine list of over 350 wines, and a full bar with craft cocktails and craft beer. The venue’s design captured a blend of understated elegance reminiscent of France and Italy.

Crush offered a variety of unique dishes, including Stonington bass tartare and cured duck with pink peppercorn buttered crostini, alongside options like oysters and charcuterie. The establishment hosted wine classes, private events, and holiday menus, and it had launched a popular weekly fried chicken and champagne offering.

The wine bar is the sister establishment of Union Kitchen, located next door, which will remain operational. Both restaurants are under the ownership of the Massachusetts-based Bean Restaurant Group.

The final day of service for Crush is slated for Sunday, July 27. A heartfelt message shared on their Facebook page highlights the challenges they faced and expresses gratitude for the community’s support. To commemorate its closing, Crush will host an inaugural wine festival, Vin Nature, in collaboration with local wine store Vino Crudo. The event is positioned as West Hartford’s first natural wine festival, offering tastings, creative Mexican street food, and live music from 12:30 to 5:30 PM. Tickets for the event are priced at $53 and include samples of over 45 carefully curated natural wines.
