Sips and Laughs: Inside the ‘In Pour Taste’ Show with Australia’s Comedy Duo

Young Australian comedians Sweeney Preston and Ethan Cavanagh recently touched down in Fort Lauderdale to launch their show, "In Pour Taste: A Comedy Wine Tasting Experience," at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Escaping the sweltering heat of their hometown Melbourne, where temperatures exceeded 110 degrees, they found hilarity in the cooling effect of wine — their go-to remedy for the sweltering conditions.

This unique show combines wine tasting led by experts with comedic flair from the duo, who are popular on the Australian club and festival circuit. "In Pour Taste" has seen success across major cities, now making its home in Fort Lauderdale until January 25, with performances held in the charming Abdo New River Room, accommodating roughly 180 guests across intimate seating arrangements.

The experience not only includes five wine tastings but also comes with a bespoke charcuterie board tailored to complement the wine selections. Noteworthy wine experts participating include Jayne Perez and Matt Newport from Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, along with A.J. Mindermann and Ferrian Carletta, providing a well-rounded wine education.

In a recent interview, the comedians shared insights into their show’s inception, revealing it started three years ago as a small act in a Melbourne wine bar where they jokingly negotiated for complimentary wine. They emphasized their love for wine and comedy, describing how they disrupt the flow of their knowledgeable guests in a humorous way.

Their wit extends beyond wine as they touch on cultural differences, showcasing their Australian sense of humor, which they joke might bemuse some Americans.
