Anoka Crash Tragedy: Man Arrested with Open Wine and High BAC at the Scene Chris Lehoux, March 13, 2025 Authorities have charged a 37-year-old man from Coon Rapids, Minnesota, with two counts of criminal vehicular homicide while under the influence of alcohol following a deadly crash in Anoka on Monday evening. According to court documents, the man had a blood alcohol concentration that was more than three times the legal limit. The incident occurred just after 6:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of North Street. The man was driving a minivan westbound when he collided with a sedan traveling in the opposite direction. The driver of the other vehicle, a 51-year-old woman from Ham Lake, Minnesota, was killed in the accident. When officers arrived at the scene, they noted the smell of alcohol on the minivan driver, who exhibited slurred speech and delayed movements. During a search of the minivan, police found an open box of wine under the passenger seat and a cup containing a red liquid consistent with the wine, along with an odor that suggested it had been spilled. The driver required medical attention for his injuries sustained in the crash and was taken to a hospital, where law enforcement obtained a search warrant for a blood sample. The results revealed an alcohol concentration of .246. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
