Sale of Simi and Meiomi Wine Brands Successfully Completed Chris Lehoux, June 5, 2025 The Wine Group has finalized its acquisition of several wine brands from Constellation Brands, including the historic Simi and Meiomi labels. This announcement, made on April 9, marks a significant change in ownership for these brands, particularly Simi, which has ties to Healdsburg and nearly 149 years of heritage. As part of the deal, The Wine Group also acquired other labels associated with the legacy of Robert Mondavi, such as Woodbridge and Robert Mondavi Private Selection, along with three California wineries and around 6,600 acres of vineyards. Although the exact purchase price wasn’t disclosed, Constellation Brands is expected to receive proceeds of approximately $900 million from this sale. Constellation Brands initiated this transaction as part of a broader strategy to offload mainstream wine brands and focus on products priced above $15 per bottle. The deal also includes the sale of Cook’s and J. Rogét sparkling wines, while Constellation retains higher-end brands such as the Robert Mondavi Winery, Schrader, and The Prisoner Wine Company. The Wine Group views this acquisition as a step towards diversifying its portfolio, aligning with consumer demand for both quality and value in the wine market.
