Larry and MaryAnn Tsai have combined their backgrounds and experiences in the wine industry to create exceptional wines under the label Moone Tsai Wines.

Their story begins with a shared passion for remarkable sensory experiences, rooted in their respective cultural heritages. Larry, a first-generation Chinese American, grew up immersed in Asian flavors while MaryAnn, raised in an Italian American household in Boston, witnessed the joy winemaking brought her grandfather. Their paths intersected in the mid-1980s, both driven by a desire to evoke the joys of their childhood through wine and food.

After earning their MBAs—Larry from Stanford and MaryAnn from Harvard—they initially pursued corporate careers. MaryAnn started at Beringer in 1989, contributing significantly to the company’s expansion into premium wineries. Her expertise in vineyard acquisition set the stage for their future endeavors.

In 2003, after reflecting on their family life with two daughters, they launched Moone Tsai Wines, starting with Cabernet Sauvignon. Their philosophy centers on sourcing grapes that produce complex, balanced wines. Working closely with renowned winemaker Philippe Melka, they have established relationships with various Napa Valley vineyard growers.

Since its inception, Moone Tsai has expanded its portfolio, producing not just robust Cabernets but also Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Their meticulous approach reflects a commitment to craftsmanship and a desire to create memorable experiences for their customers.
