Portland Wine Week Skips 2025: What This Means for Wine Enthusiasts

Chris Lehoux, March 12, 2025

Portland Wine Week organizers have decided to put the popular festival on hold for 2025. This decision allows the small team behind the event to concentrate on Wine Wise, their wine-based local events company. Founded in 2018, Portland Wine Week was created to celebrate the city’s vibrant culinary and wine scene, featuring a series of wine-pairing dinners, tastings, and unique experiences such as "wine sails" on a 74-foot sailboat.

Erica Archer, the festival’s founder, noted that participation in the event had grown significantly each year, yet running the festival required considerable resources and focus. The team found that the festival’s demands were detracting from their ability to develop other wine-focused events under Wine Wise. As a result, they opted to pause the festival and redirect their efforts for the year.

The Wine Wise events, which previously occurred during a limited 19-week season, are now expanding to run throughout the year. They have recently resumed popular programs like their Wine & Food Walks, in which participants visit multiple local restaurants for staged pairings and chef discussions.

Archer expressed hope that Portland Wine Week could return in 2026, depending on how the current year’s events evolve. The decision to pause the festival was made to better contribute to the local culinary community, reflecting their commitment to quality over quantity.
